Pop Group Blue Set for New Year’s Eve Concert in Shillong

U.K. boy band Blue – comprising Simon Webbe, Duncan James, Antony Costa and Lee Ryan – are finally making their way back to India to bring in the new year 2025 in Shillong.

Blue – best known for their debut single “All Rise” in 2001 and chart-topping albums like One Love (2002) – will perform on Dec. 31, 2024 in Shillong, with the venue yet to be announced. The band said on Instagram for the announcement, “We have some news. We’ll be in Shillong, India this 31st December for a special New Year’s Eve celebration.”

The concert – billed as One Night, One Love ft Blue – is presented by Indian companies such as Fukra Entertainment, in collaboration with Souled Out Events, Calls With Balls, and Only Exclusive. Tickets are on sale now, priced at ₹1,499 (general admission), ₹2,499 (superfans), ₹12,999 (VIP) and ₹1,18,000 (VIP table for 10).

Blue have been in India in the early 2000s and had their song “One Love” adapted into Hindi by singer Shaan. They were scheduled to perform in India last year, at a festival in New Delhi in September 2023, which got called off. While a rescheduled was awaited, it was never announced. Now, the pop group are back for more.

Ryan told Hindustan Times earlier this year, “We’ve always been a big fan of India. And we got to come there when we were younger, in our 20s. But it would be amazing to come back. The difference now, I think, is that we can take a little bit more time to go and explore the country. It is such an amazingly spiritual and lovely place. There are so many places I would love to see that I’ve never really got the chance to see. We were very fortunate to go around the world and experience these amazing places, but coming to India is definitely on my bucket list and I would actually like to take a bit more time to get to know the country better.”
